| Cllr Chamberlain, new Cabinet Member for Housing |
| Following the statutory Annual Council Meeting at the Civic Centre on 27 May, Cllr Lee Chamberlain (fourth from the left) was elected as the Cabinet Member for Housing and Technology. This appointment was made following the local elections that were held on 7 May. He said: “I’m looking forward to working with all residents and leaseholders to ensure that you are getting the best possible service. One of my first priorities will be to address damp and mould issues and ensure residents are involved in council housing services”. | | Listening to residents and acting on what matters most - Big Door Knock 2026 |
| In March, our council housing team were out and about again talking to residents during the Big Door Knock. More than 7,000 households across 399 housing blocks were visited. Speaking directly with residents in their homes has provided valuable insight into their experiences and priorities, highlighting opportunities for us to strengthen repairs, improve estate environments, and enhance community safety, with a clear focus on responding more quickly, supporting vulnerable households, and delivering visible, resident-led improvements across our estates. Keep an eye out for details for our next Big Door Knock later in 2026. |

| | Listening to you – Improving the look and condition of our estates
|
| We’re investing in making our estates cleaner, safer and more enjoyable through our Estate Enhancement Programme. Upcoming improvements include CCTV to tackle fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour, reducing empty garages, and upgrades to play areas and parking. These plans are guided by resident feedback, councillor input and estate inspections. Have your say and share your ideas by completing the estate enhancement feedback form and help us improve your neighbourhood. |

| Your safety matters - Council housing approach to e-bikes and e-scooters |
| On average there’s a fire from a lithium-ion battery in an e-bike or e-scooter every two days in London. Many of these fires happen in homes while batteries are charging. The Council wants to reduce the risk to residents as far as possible, so our approach is to insist you need our written permission to bring an e-bike or e-scooter onto our land – this includes our estates, shared communal areas of flats and individual properties. We will never give you permission to charge an e-bike or e-scooter in or around one of our blocks of flats. For more information read our e-bikes and e-scooters policy. For fire safety advice visit the London Fire Brigade website. |

| | Insuring your home contents |
| Contents insurance provides cover for home contents and personal belongings in the event of a fire, flood, theft and many more household risks. No matter how careful you are, there’s always a risk that your belongings could be broken, damaged or stolen. As part of your tenancy agreement the Council is not responsible for damage/loss of personal belongings. The Crystal Insurance Scheme offers you insurance for the contents of your home including cover for items such as furniture or carpets. Use their contents calculator to work out the value of your home contents. |
