Welcome to Housing Matters, a new newsletter to let you know what’s changing and improving in council housing, and how your feedback is shaping the services we provide.
We’re pleased that so many tenants, leaseholders and shared owners took part in The Big Conversation last year – where we visited hundreds of residents – as well as other events and surveys.
You told us what works and what needs to work better. We’ve listened and are already making improvements. |

How your feedback is shaping our services |
More convenient repair appointments |
What we heard: Daytime repair appointments can be difficult to fit around work and other commitments.
What we’ve done: We’ve introduced Wednesday evening repair slots from 5pm to 8pm to give you more choice. |
Easier access to your Housing Officer |
What we heard: You want to see more of us in the community and get face to face advice and support more easily.
What we’ve done: Housing officers now hold regular neighbourhood walkabouts and drop ins where you can speak to us about repairs, tenancy issues, anti-social behaviour or anything else you need help with. |
What we heard: You told us the annual report should be shorter and easier to read, with additional detail online for people who want to know more, and information about how residents can get involved.
What we’ve done: Residents worked alongside us to co design the latest report, which was then reviewed by our Resident Engagement Improvement Board. This same group is already shaping next year’s report. |

Making sure shared owners don’t miss out |
What we heard: More than 1,200 tenants took part in this year’s Tenants’ Perception Survey, but many shared owners didn’t realise the survey applied to them too.
What we’ve done: We’ve contacted all shared owners directly, by letter, phone and in person, so everyone knows they can take part. |

Keeping your tenancy information up to date |
What we heard: That we need to better understand who our residents are so we can do more to meet your individual needs.
What we’ve done: We’ve made it simpler to update your household and contact information through the MyCouncil website. We’ll also be getting in touch directly with tenants and leaseholders to make sure the details we hold are complete and accurate. |
