| A message from Cllr Chamberlain, Cabinet Member for Housing |
| "As a new Cabinet member of a new administration, I (pictured middle) recently joined officers on a Council Housing walkabout, viewing new built homes, estates being redeveloped, and older estates needing improvements. It is clear to me that while improvements are happening, there are still a lot of challenges to be tackled. To that end, I want to hear directly about the problems residents are facing that are making them unhappy. While there is no magic wand, it's important to start with honesty and a clear view of the issues. I want residents to be involved and have their say. To find out how to have your say and get involved." |

| | 'On Your Doorstep' events and clean-up days - improving neighbourhoods |
| 'On Your Doorstep' events are taking place on council estates around the borough in August. During the events residents can speak directly with housing officers about issues they are experiencing in their home or on their estate. At these events we will also enhance the standards of our estates through clean-up days focussing on clearing litter and debris, delivering the pressure washing programme and tidying up green spaces. We encourage everyone to participate by either sharing ideas on how to further improve your shared spaces or coming out to speak with us. For more information and to view the schedule. |

| Tenants’ Satisfaction Survey – your views |
| In October, BMG, an independent market research organisation, will carry out our annual Tenant Satisfaction Measure survey. It tells us how satisfied you are with your council homes and services, and where you think improvements can be made. A random and representative sample of tenants from across our council homes will be selected to take part. If you are chosen, BMG will carry out a short survey on your doorstep - if you agree to it. Your responses will be reported to us anonymously. BMG will carry identification and a letter confirming they are conducting the survey for us. |

| | | There are things you can do to prevent fires and keep you and your community safe. Residents are not allowed to use barbecues (BBQs) inside their homes, including balconies or roof terraces. The storage and use of contained gases (for example, Calor gas) is also prohibited in council properties. If your flat has a private garden, you may use a wood or charcoal fuelled BBQ. Remember smoking is not allowed on balconies and flammable items such as gas canisters or tins of paint should not be stored on them. Ensure balconies are kept clear of clutter to help stop fire spreading. For more fire safety advice. |

| Our third Big Door Knock is coming soon |
| The third Big Door Knock will take place this September, bringing Enfield Council officers and residents together once again for one of our most important community engagement initiatives. By speaking directly with residents in their homes and neighbourhoods, we can better understand what matters most, hear your experiences first-hand and ensure your views help shape the services we deliver. We want to hear what's working well, where improvements are needed and whether you or your household would benefit from additional support, particularly if you have a disability, health condition or mobility challenge. All officers taking part will carry Enfield Council ID badges. Read more details. |
