On 16 April, we spoke to West Yorkshire Pension Fund who confirmed the following. |

Immediate Choice RSS
WYPF have started to produce Immediate Choice Remediable Service Statements (IC-RSS) for those who have already retired. We understand that there are statements for around 400 people across all 24 Fire and Rescue Authorities and Services to process.
We also understand there are currently 3 RSS that have been provided to our Immediate Choice Members.
These RSS are being produced manually. WYPF continue to work on software issues which currently mean RSS cannot be produced automatically.
WYPF are prioritising cases and we will share more information when we have it.
As the RSS are being processed individually they will take some time and won't be issued in bulk.
Meanwhile we are doing all we can to ensure that when the software issue is resolved, remedy will be applied as quickly as possible. |

|
Please let us know if you have not yet received any communication from WYPF as we were assured they would contact all active and retired members explaining in more detail your specific circumstances and impact. |

What we are doing
We are working to resolve and improve internal resourcing issues. We know that communication could have been better with retired members in particular and we now have additional support to improve this. We are checking all national communications to ensure we provide updates on a more regular basis. We will continue to meet with WYPF to ensure we are working together to resolve this. |

As you may be aware we have reported a breach to The Pensions Regulator. The nature of the breach is the failure to provide Remedial Service Statements (RSS) by the 31 March 2025, which West Yorkshire Pensions Fund, as our Pensions Administrator, are required to do on our behalf. We need to report the breach as the legal requirement to provide RSS rests with us as Pensions Scheme Manager. All Fire Services who use West Yorkshire Pensions Fund as their Pensions Administrator are in the same position. |
