London's first Climate Agreement launches in the Royal Docks |
|
In October, the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone, Newham Council and key organisations including Excel London, University of East London, Lendlease, London City Airport, and T & L Sugars signed an ambitious climate agreement to help London reach net-zero by 2030.
The agreement will support the Royal Docks in its bid to reduce carbon emissions and take climate action that delivers better outcomes for people who live, work, and visit the Royal Docks.
The cohort have committed to working together to accelerate and enhance the speed of climate transition plans in Newham, on key projects including:
1. Supporting the design and delivery of the Royal Docks Blue Green Corridor making the waterfront more accessible, useable and biodiverse. 2. Developing a joint proposal for developing a Digital Twin. 3. Exploring waste management strategies to encourage a circular economy. 4. Minimising food waste and addressing food security as part of a new Royal Docks Food and Beverage strategy.

Showcasing Newham's progress on Community Energy |
|
On September 24th, we proudly hosted a site visit at East Ham Library as part of our work co-leading London Councils' Community Energy workstream. The event featured insightful talks from representatives of Repowering London and the London Borough of Hackney, followed by a rooftop tour showcasing our collaborative solar panel installation with community energy groups and the Greater London Authority. This project is helping to provide the library with low-cost, low-carbon energy. Participants also engaged in a workshop focused on developing two key projects to accelerate community energy efforts in the coming year. |
