On Saturday, I had the privilege of standing on stage at the return of Under the Stars, and what a moment it was seeing thousands of faces, celebrating the very best of Newham.
The event showcased the incredible creativity, talent and community spirit that make our borough so special, with emerging local artists sharing the stage alongside our very own Tinchy Stryder.
A highlight for me was seeing our host Sir Ashley J bringing the crowds together, celebrating fellow artists and inspiring the next generation.

My thanks go to everyone who made the evening possible – our performers, volunteers and council staff. Thank you to our partners Broadwick Live, 9 Point 8, The Silvertown Partnership and the Royal Docks Team for supporting us to bring this event back to Newham.
And most importantly, thank you to the thousands of residents who joined us and helped make the event such a memorable celebration of Newham. The celebrations don't stop there.
This weekend, residents can return to Silvertown Island for a live screening of the England match at the same venue that hosted Under the Stars.
Tickets are free, but they're being snapped up quickly. Please note the event is for those aged 18 and over. Book your tickets here.
IT’S COMING HOME!

How to stay healthy and hydrated in the heatwave
We all know the change in temperature can affect our eating habits. But you can eat healthily during a heatwave by taking a few simple steps.
To stay hydrated, we should aim to drink 6-8 glasses of water (around 1.5-2 litres) and eat fruit and vegetables with a high water content, including cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, celery and strawberries - frozen fruits are cheaper and just as nutritious.
Also, try to avoid alcohol - with the weather, it's tempting to reach for a cold beer but it only dehydrates us further.
