Last week, I joined council officers and our local police partners for a Day of Action in Manor Park, tackling the issues residents have told us matter most – from street drinking and fly-tipping to waste offences and crime.
I was pleased to see the Day of Action live up to its name, with teams taking real, visible action across the area.
This included: Issuing 40 waste notices to addresses which had Waste in their front gardens Giving 2 Fixed Penalty Notices for environmental crime including fly-tipping, launching a further 7 fly-tipping investigations to track down and hold offenders accountable, carrying out 84 CCTV intelligence checks to support the action – in real time, speaking directly with 33 people from the area, including those who are sleeping rough.
We also took targeted enforcement action against Blue Badge misuse, abandoned vehicles and anti-social behaviour hotspots. It was particularly interesting to hear from officers on the ground, who shared why this work matters so much – helping to keep our streets safe, clean and welcoming for everyone.
|
I want to be clear: this work doesn’t stop here. We will continue working closely with our partners, including the police, to combine firm enforcement with practical support and community engagement – taking action to protect residents and build neighbourhoods where people feel safe and proud to live.

Ex-Kingsford pupil ready for World Cup action
Kingsford Community School is celebrating after former pupil Aaron Tshibola’s involvement in the DR Congo squad at the FIFA World Cup.
Aaron, who has been on the bench for the first two group games, attended Kingsford from 2006 to 2011 where his talent became obvious. He helped Kingsford win the London Cup in 2010 and reached the semi-finals of the National Cup that year.
School staff offered support and guidance as Aaron’s talent grew and he represented both Newham and Essex, where he was scouted by Millwall FC. He now plays for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership. DR Congo will play the final group game against Uzbekistan on Sunday.
