Know your Renters' Rights From 1 May, major changes to renting in England come into force under the Renters’ Rights Act. These reforms are designed to give private renters greater security and stronger rights. Key changes include the end of “no-fault” evictions, changes to how and when rent can be increased, and new rules around tenancy agreements so most renters will no longer be on fixed-term contracts. We want every resident who rents to know their rights, understand what this means for their home, their tenancy, and their rights from now on. Our website also includes a “Listen/Translate” feature to make this information easier to access in over 100 languages and in different formats. Read the full details on our dedicated Renters' Rights webpage > |

Let’s protect our community against Measles
Bangladesh is battling its worst Measles outbreak in years. If you and your children have recently returned from a holiday to Bangladesh, or you have plans to go, we would encourage you to check their vaccination status and be aware of the signs and symptoms.
Measles is a very serious illness. The best defence against measles is the MMR vaccine. The vaccine is free, safe and highly effective. You can ask for the vaccine without pork ingredients.
Please check the vaccination status of your whole family. If you are unsure, or if you haven’t had your MMR vaccine, contact your GP.
Be aware of the signs and symptoms of measles >
The MMR vaccine is also available at Community Catch-up Clinics > |

Making voting more accessible for Newham residents
Many blind or partially sighted residents face real barriers when voting, as reading and marking a ballot paper often requires assistance. For the first time in Newham, the Council is introducing the McGonagle Reader in many polling stations.
The device provides audio prompts and a physical guide, enabling voters to cast their ballot independently.

Register your interest to use the device on May 7 > |
