Delivering your local elections
Local elections took place across the district on Thursday 7 May. Following these we welcomed two new councillors - Ann Baty for Hook and Pam Hardy for Blackwater and Hawley. There are 33 seats on the Council, currently made up of 13 Liberal Democrats, 11 Community Campaign Hart (CCH), eight Conservatives and one Independent.
Councillors were also elected for Hampshire County Council and some town and parish councils.
A new Chair and Vice-Chair were elected for 2026/27 at the Hart District Council Annual General Meeting on Thursday 21 May. Councillor Stuart Bailey was elected as Chair of the Council and Councillor Gill Butler as Vice-Chair. |

Supporting local organisations with community grants
We run a grant scheme aimed at local organisations who are looking to run and develop countryside projects that align with our corporate priorities. Small, medium and large grants are available up to the value of £10,000. Applications for 2026 round of funding open on 1 May and close on 17 July. |
|
| |
|
Last year we awarded seven countryside community grants to projects which provide health, wellbeing and biodiversity benefits to residents. The largest grant of £10,000 was awarded to Hartland Men’s Shed to build a new allotment area at their shed in Hartland Village. |

Quick reads - Four little piggies Fans of the 'Sheep' roundabout will be thrilled to meet our new piggy additions on another roundabout in Fleet. Keep a look out for them when travelling along Cove Road!
- Let us know what you think about our waste and recycling services across Hart, including food waste, by taking our snapshot survey. Run quarterly, they help us identify any issues residents might be having.
- Water in our country parks During hot days, our lakes and ponds become even more inviting - but these are not safe for swimming or boating. Water conditions can be unpredictable, with hidden hazards, sudden drops and poor water quality and unauthorised watercraft put both individuals and wildlife at risk.
- New additions on Here for Hart Directory Seven new groups and services have recently been added to the Here for Hart Directory, helping residents stay connected, supported and informed. What can you find in Hart?
- Local plan consultation The Local Plan will set out the long-term approach to a range of planning matters. At this early stage of the process, we are conducting a statutory ‘scoping’ consultation, asking for views on what it should contain. This is aimed mainly at key organisations, but anyone can submit comments to be considered.
