These points are for real Christmas trees only. Please don’t take artificial trees, decorations, or trees over 1.8 m (they can be cut in half). The trees collected are then transformed into ProGrow Soil conditioner for gardens and wood chippings for our parks.
If you subscribe to our garden waste collection service, you can also leave a real Christmas tree out for recycling with your green waste collection.
Bin collections across the district return to normal from Monday 19 January following the Christmas disruption. |

Local Government Reorganisation consultation closed
The Government consulted from 19 November 2025 - 11 January 2026 on proposals for local government reorganisation in Hampshire. One proposal was put forward backed by 11 councils across Hampshire including Hart, and an alternative was submitted supported by Hampshire County Council and East Hampshire District Council.
The Government will now make a decision on which option will be chosen for Hampshire. We do not have a date for their decision but will continue to communicate any updates we have. For more information and the latest updates please see the Local Government Reorganisation hub on our website. |

Restoring habitats at Whitewater Meadows
Hart are currently in the midst of a Biodiversity Net Gain project at Whitewater Meadows Country Park, in Hook.
Beginning in late September, the Wetland Creation Project seeks to restore the variety of wetland habitats that used to be prevalent at the site.
So far, we've completed Stage 1 - wetland excavation, earthworks and pathway redesign, with Stage 2 (tree and hedgerow planting) beginning next Monday, 19 January. |
|
The tree planting will last for approximately one week, but is dependent on weather conditions.
During this time please be aware of restricted parking, machinery on site, and disruptions in the marked areas illustrated on this map.
For more information on the aims of the project, please visit the Biodiversity Net Gain projects page on our website. |

Supporting community groups with grant funding
Support from our Cost of Living Support Grant has kept the Friday Lunch Club at St Mary's Church, Eversley warm and cosy for community groups. The Cost of Living Support Grant awarded St Mary's Church £3,000 towards the cost of heating the room which is used by various different community groups throughout the winter.
This welcoming space brings local residents together to enjoy good company and delicious food – from hearty soups to perfectly baked jacket potatoes (thanks to the potato oven funded by last year’s Winter Grant!).
We popped along last week to see the Friday Lunch Club in action. Pictured is Councillor Peter Wildsmith, portfolio holder for Communities, with the Reverend Faith Bailey, also Vicar at St Barnabas in Blackwater.
We offer various funding opportunities throughout the year for community organisations, groups and schools as well as grants and schemes open to residents. Find out more on our Grants and Funding page. |

Community health event - 1 February at Edenbrook
Hart are proud to host the Melp Foundation Fun Run at Edenbrook Country Park, on Sunday 1 February.
The Melp Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting young people in schools and women in grassroots sport with their mental health and wellbeing.
The country park car park will be closed for the day to allow for the event space. During this time we're asking visitors to please use the Grove Farm car park, off Hitches Lane, or to visit one of our other nearby green spaces. Please do not park in the leisure centre or on the nearby residential roads. Parking in Calthorpe Park School is limited only for event attendees.
