| WHAT EARLY ADOPTERS ARE TEACHING US ABOUT NEIGHBOURHOOD HEALTH
Over the past 12 months, neighbourhood health has shifted from policy ambition to practical delivery. What began as a core principle within the NHS's long-term direction is now being tested at scale, supported by national frameworks, structured improvement programmes and a growing number of early adopter sites. Emerging evidence suggests neighbourhood-based models are improving coordination of care, supporting more proactive management of patients and reducing reliance on hospital services.
Ian Razzell, Head of Primary Care at NHS Arden & GEM and National Neighbourhood Health Improvement Programme (NNHIP) coach, shares the progress being made by early adopter sites - highlighting the critical enablers of workforce, data and culture - in this article for Healthcare Management.

ASSURING THE SECTION 117 MENTAL HEALTH AFTERCARE REVIEW PROCESS
Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust engaged NHS Arden & GEM’s Clinical Support team to assure the review process for residents receiving Section 117 mental health aftercare in the community.
Experienced, registered mental health nurses provided independent expertise and capacity to lead a process of data cleansing and case prioritisation which resulted in an assured single register of eligible patients. This register will enable the Trust to ensure reviews are being undertaken in a timely manner and in accordance with clinical need, with patients receiving appropriate community support.

| DELIVERING A STRUCTURED PROCESS FOR COMPLEX MENTAL HEALTH FUNDING
NHS Northamptonshire ICB partnered with NHS Arden & GEM to strengthen the management of complex mental health funding requests. These requests relate to individuals with complex needs who require access to specialist or non-routine treatments that fall outside of standard commissioned services.
By introducing a structured, transparent and standardised process, the partnership has improved consistency in decision-making, supported equitable access to care, and ensured funding is directed towards interventions that deliver meaningful outcomes for patients and the wider system.
